Dan Walker - tenor
Composer, conductor and performer Dan Walker is one of Australia’s most in-demand choral specialists. His compositional output includes commissions for Gondwana Voices, The Birralee Blokes, the Nittany Valley Children’s Choir of Pennsylvania, and Halcyon. 2014 highlights include the premiere of his Mass of Deliverance, a contemporary mass setting written for the Leichhardt Espresso Chorus and Sydney Brass. This mass has been programmed for a second performance as part of St James King St’s orchestral mass series in January 2015. Other highlights include a featured work, Out There, in the 2014 South Australian Primary Schools Choral Festival, which was performed by some 14 000 young singers in numerous venues across the state.
As a performer, Dan is a member of Sydney-based Cantillation, Pinchgut Opera and was a founding member of early music ensemble ‘The Parson’s Affayre’. He is a keenly sought-after conductor, often appearing as chorus-master for the Sydney Symphony, and was an associate conductor of Gondwana Choirs from 2006 - 2014. He is now a busy freelance artist based in Melbourne.
